    Job Description

    POSITION PURPOSE:

    Coordinate the activities of personnel in the engineering department to ensure guest satisfaction.

    Duties
    • Coordinates with supervisors, managers and employees to ensure commodity of purpose and direction.
    • Coordinate between shifts and acting as the central point of contact for mechanical/electrical/plumbing/air-condition issues.
    • Monitor the condition of the maintenance shop to ensure adequate working condition.
    • Determine assignment for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel.
    • Investigate accidents or injuries and prepare reports of findings.
    • Complete estimates and actual costs of factors such as materials, labour or out-side contractors.
    • Communicate directly with the operations to coordinate maintenance and repair work.
    • Communicate regularly with all maintenance technicians to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues.
    • Order supplies, equipment and materials for projects as directed by management.
    • Assign and coordinate with technicians to maintain and repair room issues.
    • Ensure work is attained in a responsive way complying to set quality safety guidelines and standards.
    • Complete needed records and ensure documentation is filed systematically.
    • Supports Director/Chief Engineer and Assistant Chief Engineer with agreed staff action for employees.
    • Attend departmental meetings.
    • · Some knowledge of all maintenance trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical.
    • Skill in the use of answering the telephone to hotel international standards.
    • Basic English language communication and mathematical skills in order to communicate with co-workers, fully comprehend job assignments and perform accurate simple arithmetic functions.

    OTHER:

    Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Sonesta Maho

    Beach resort & Casino from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.

    Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

    Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.

    Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Employees who violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

    Due to the nature of the business the individual may be required to do other duties and special projects as assigned by your supervisor.

    QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

    Education:

    Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school diploma preferred.
